Quilt Binding 101
Binding your project is the last step to finishing any quilting project yet somehow, it’s the most intimidating part. Let us help you get over that fear and learn to bind like a pro!
In this class you will learn:
- How prep your finished project for binding
- How to calculate and create your binding
- Traditional Binding (machine sewn and hand finished)
- Machine Binding (Machine sewn on both sides)
- Bias Binding (Good for striped bindings and complex curves)
- Flange Binding (Add a little Pizzaz to your quilt)
Class Supplies:
- Ultimate Binding and Edge-Finishing Guide for Quilting and Sewing Book (Must Purchase Before Class!)
- 1/3 yard of printed quilting fabric for main bindings
- 1/8 yard solid coordinating fabric for flange binding
- Sewing Machine in good working order
- Walking foot
- Neutral Thread
- Hand Sewing Needle
- Small Square Ruler (6.5” works best)
- Small Rectangle Ruler (3.5" x 12" works best)
- Marking pencil or chalk liner
- Sharp pins
- Scissors
- Notebook and pencil for taking notes
Pre-Class Instructions:
- Iron and starch your material
- Replace your machines needle with either a 90/14 or 80/12 size needle
- Prep a new bobbin with matching thread
Class Refund Policy
We understand that plans can change. If you need to cancel your class enrollment, please note the following:
Full Refund: Cancellations made 14 days or more before the class start date will receive a full refund.
Store Credit: Cancellations made within 14 days of the class start date will receive store credit only.
No-Shows: No refunds or credits will be issued for no-shows.
Instructor Cancellations: If Wildflower Quilt Co. must cancel a class for any reason, students will receive a full refund or the option to transfer to a future class.
Transfer Option: If space allows, students may transfer their registration to another class with advance notice.
