Kira Quilt - May 1st

The Kira Quilt looks like it might be difficult, but it's actually just 3 straight cuts and sewing together. Wow your friends with this beautiful quilt that is very easy to sew together. Learn to make the Kira quilt pattern using the Stripology ruler and 10” squares of dark and light fabrics with a certified Stripology Instructor. This contrast makes a beautiful circle of triangles design. You can easily substitute a single background fabric for ½ of the 10” squares for a less scrappy look. Layer cakes or even scrap fabrics will work for this quilt.

It is highly recommended to press and starch fabric prior to class. Stripology Rulers will be available at the shop to use. No need to own a Stripology ruler. Join the class and see how fun it is to make a quilt that looks difficult with very easy straight cuts and sewing.

In this single day, 6 hour class, learn how to make the Kira quilt with a Stripology ruler.  We will go through the cutting, construction, and pressing process step by step and discuss directional fabrics and layouts. Cut up those favorite fabrics and get them in a quilt so you can enjoy them!

Requirements:
Basic beginner quilting skills

Supplies:
- Kira quilt pattern by GE Designs (pattern included in class price)
- Stripology XL Ruler OR Stripology Squared Ruler (optional).  There will be Stripology rulers for shared use in class

Additional Items to Bring to Class:
1. Sewing machine in good working order. You should be familiar with how your machine works including how to wind and load the bobbin, change the sewing feet, and thread the needle.  Don’t forget the cord and pedal

2. Cutting mat, 18"x 24" minimum size or larger

3. Rotary cutter, 45mm or 60mm

4. Coordinating thread for piecing, pins, seam ripper, sewing machine needles, etc.

5. Optional: Iron/pressing tool and pressing board/pad (irons & boards are available in the classroom for shared use)

It is highly recommended to press and starch fabric prior to class
