Beginner Quilting 101



Details:
Join us for a six-week beginning quilt-making course lead by the talented Karen Driessen. You will learn to piece up to nine different blocks which can then be used to construct a table topper or small-size quilt top. During these classes you will be covering basic sewing machine operation, uses of a rotary cutter, ruler and cutting mat. Also you will learn and practice the technique of creating a scant quarter-inch seam to help facilitate the piecing of your blocks.


Materials Needed:
- Sewing machine in good working order that you are familiar sewing on
- Quarter-inch foot for your machine - Required
- Sewing pins
- Machine needles size 80/12 (universal or sharps)
- Sharp fabric scissors
- rotary cutter with new blade
- cutting mat (large mats will be provided but, if you have a small one for you station you may bring it)
- 6" x 12" or 6" x 18-24" ruler
- Thread (Neutral Color) & bobbins for your machine
- Paper and pen or pencil for note taking
- Fabric according to the Pattern (If you need help picking fabric there will be time on the first session to pick fabric)
